Acts 1:8-9 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

This Sunday we have a guest speaker at our church. He is Berhanu Seyhoum of Ethiopia, Pastor at Mekane Jesu Lutheran Church at Green Lake. Berhanu will be sharing with us his ministry goals and challenges as Pastor of Mekane Jesu. The challenges he faces here in Seattle are different than what he experienced in Ethiopia, as they would be for anywhere you go in the world. But God is with us, directing the mission, no matter how difficult or challenging. Because his Holy Spirit at work in the church, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is still expanding throughout the world. Whether we realize it or not, just by being Christians, we are his witnesses 'to the ends of the earth.' Nor do we have to travel to Ethiopia to be involved in such mission work; it is right here in our backyard. Come and hear more this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
